Nestled among the rocks and surrounded by a wonderful Mediterranean scrub made up of woods of holm oaks, oaks and maritime pines, we find a city nicknamed "The city of alabaster".
Castellina Marittima is deeply tied to the land, the exceptional quality of the stone for which it is famous is due to the fact that these lands were once submerged by the sea.
It is part of the "Costa degli Etruschi" and if you have the opportunity to visit it, sit on one of the benches of the Belvedere, from there you can admire one of the most suggestive panoramas of the sea from which, on the clearest days, it is possible to spot the famous "Dito", the tip of northern Corsica.
Walking through the alleys of the town you arrive in the beating heart of the city, Piazza Garibaldi.
Precisely in this square we find a historic building from around 1800, built between the red galestro rocks with which the private homes and the old castle that is located above the restaurant were built.
The building was the first farm in the town and was the point of reference for the local farmers who brought wheat and grapes to work, in the garden there is still an old press that was used for pressing the grapes.
What is now used as a restaurant, located in the basement, was previously the old cellar of the farmhouse. The room of about 120 square meters, has about 70 seats inside, is surrounded by arches with exposed stones and still has the grates on the ceiling where the farmer dropped the wheat, while outside 20 seats can be positioned in the garden of about 30 square meters.
The property includes two small warehouses of respectively about 10 sq m and 7 sq m, comfortable to use as a pantry.
Over the years it has been rented out to many restaurateurs.
